When Nathan died, meeting other mothers who had also lost their children to a rare disease became very important. To find these mothers at such a raw, vulnerable, and exposed time became the key to survival. Wanting to create a legacy for our children was our common goal and bond. Our messenger chat became affectionately known as “the avengers” – as we discussed ways to help improve the lives of other children and families with rare diseases. There is no greater strength, resilience, endurance or determination on this earth than the combined force of a mother’s love for our children. Real superheroes do exist; they’re the kids fighting daily battles just to survive. This is our origin story – a collection of our children’s stories and the impact they have made in this world. Avengers assemble!
